After qualifying with a BA in Journalism and African History from Rhodes University, Sarah went on to qualify as a FGASA registered Game Ranger where she spent time in the South African Lowveld pursuing her passion for wildlife photography and nature conservation. She started her formal career as a photographic journalists, based out of Johannesburg, but working across the African continent. In 2007 she decided to settle in Cape Town and there joined the WWF South Africa team where she moved through the ranks from Communications Co-ordinator, to Marine and Freshwater Marketing Manager, and finally to the position of organisational Marketing and Brand Manager. In her time at WWF her passion for wildlife and environmental issues grew, as did her understanding of how the environmental issues facing our planet cannot be separated from the social injustices playing out on a global level every day. This love of the environment and deep-seated desire to become more involved in social change has stayed with her as she has embarked on a career as a marketing consultant, working within the environmental and social development sectors. Through hard hitting results driven campaigns, Africa@Heart now works with NGOs and small business across Africa to effect positive social and environmental change.
